Mike Schadt – Founder of SOS Ministries

Our Journey with SOS began in March of 2000. God called us to start SOS to bring the name of Jesus Christ to those who have never heard or believed the gospel (Romans 15:20). Part of bringing the gospel to the ends of the earth carries the privilege of ministering and helping people with their physical needs – from digging wells deep into the earth to bring fresh water to villages in Africa to bringing medical care. From helping bring education and training to counseling the hurting.

But even more importantly, the Lord poured the spirit of Isaiah 61 into us as we have the privilege to bring a message of Good News to all who are afflicted, to heal the brokenhearted, proclaim freedom to captives, comfort those who mourn, administer hope for the hopeless, and exchange beauty for ashes. We raise up and appoint indigenous men to be church leaders over every Hope Center we establish. We send missions teams to come alongside our overseas leaders to serve, evangelize, encourage, and disciple.

This is our mission. This is what the Lord called us to do, remembering that we ourselves were in the same need and condition.

It has been quite a ride – over 20 years of service, 10 countries, 19 hope centers, 45 indigenous leaders, and hundreds and hundreds worshipping the One True God. Entire communities drink from the water wells we’ve provided, and we were able to minister to hundreds with needed food items during COVID. We are thrilled with what the Lord is doing through SOS around the world!

The best possible way to understand how the Lord is using us is to come and see it for yourself! It is literally life changing. Just like in the book of Romans, we desire that you would have “beautiful feet” that carry the gospel.

I am accompanied in the ministry by my lovely bride of 31 years, Sandy. We have one daughter, Sofia, two married sons and their wives who all walk with the Lord – Levi and Amber and Micah and Lindsey, and four darling grandchildren.

Pressing on,
Mike Schadt, SOS Ministries
